Message from Mr. Miller... Dear Students, Parents, and
Community members of Let me first introduce myself to each of you. My name is Jon Miller, and I am extremely excited to be your new principal. I have spent my entire career in elementary education and look forward to working with each of you and our students to make them the best they can be. I have heard great things about the staff, students and community support Irvington Elementary has to offer, and I look forward to being a part of it all. Let me tell you a little about myself so that you can get to know me better. I grew up in Irvine, KY (near Richmond) and attended Eastern Kentucky University where I received a degree in Elementary Education in 1997. After graduation, I moved to Meade County to teach and coach basketball. In my career, I have taught 2nd, 3rd, and 6th grades. During my tenure as a teacher in Meade County, I attended Western Kentucky University where I received a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership. After 7 years in the classroom, I became Assistant Principal at Flaherty Elementary, still in Meade County. I gained much knowledge and experience in the five years I was at Flaherty, and I look forward to using and expanding that knowledge in this new endeavor. I am married to a wonderful woman, Jennifer, and have one son, Jake (3 yrs old). We still live in Meade County, but look forward to getting involved in the Irvington Community as well. Hopefully I will get a chance to meet each of you on August 4th at our Back to School BBQ. It begins at 4PM and runs until 6PM. There you’ll have a chance to meet the staff, enjoy free food, and visit informational booths. Everyone is welcome, so please join us for an evening of food and fun. We have many great things to offer the students here at IES. In addition to the quality instruction your child will receive in the classroom, we also have things your child can enjoy outside the classroom. There is basketball, archery, academic teams, chorus, boy scouts, girl scouts, Extended School Services (ESS), 4-H, guest speakers, and JUST for kids after school care, to name a few. Be sure to contact the school for additional information about these and other programs IES has to offer. Thank you in advance for your continued support of IES. I look forward to the new school year as we work together toward success for all. Your principal, Jon Miller |
